Spirulina supplements provide a natural way to help maintain energy levels through the remaining winter months, it has been claimed.
According to experts, the microscopic alga that grows in tropical lakes is full of protein and is highly recommended as it is easily absorbed by the body.
It is low in sodium and cholesterol, but high in many important nutrients, including vitamin E, multiple B vitamins, iron, selenium, copper, manganese and zinc.
The superfood is thought to support cardiovascular health, reduce cholesterol and bolster the immune system.
Fitness instructor Rachel Bruce commented: "I have a very physically demanding job and need phenomenal energy and increased immunity.
"After just a few weeks of taking daily doses of spirulina a colleague asked me what I was on - she said I looked five years younger, glowing with lots of energy. Now she's switched to spirulina and feels great too."
Ms Bruce concluded that she would recommend spirulina "to anyone looking for health, energy and lifestyle enhancement".
